Endorsements for The Way of Strategy Larry Bond Levinson's The Way of Strategy is a worthwhile addition to any manager's bookshelf. It combines universal principles from both the military and civilian disciplines into a fascinating and readable book. Larry Bond
Bill Levinson very cleverly weaves together the classics of management and strategy demonstrating how these timeless lessons are applicable in today's competitive world. There is [a] clear focus on the human element and the overarching theme of TQM. Lawrence P. Carr, Ph.D.
"Mr. Levinson has accomplished what only a few westerners have managed before him. He has captured the soul and spirit of the Asian mind-set in his analysis of the meanings and truths hidden in the words of Sun Tzu and humbly mined the gems that have eluded scholars, both East and West, for ages and dynasties. This is a rare work that, I feel, will help bring our two cultures closer in the understanding that we so terribly need today and tomorrow during the Pacific Century." --- Chin-Ning Chu, Author of Thick Face, Black

That my father's editions of Sun Tzu, The Art of War, helped to inspire William Levinson's artful The Way of Strategy would have pleased him greatly. Like Mr. Levinson, he believed in the study of strategy, and its importance in not only military and political matters, but also in business issues as well. The Way of Strategy incorporates many such studies, and I'm sure he would have been pleased to have been a part of it. Michaela Clavell, Foreign Rights Inc. Dr. Stephen R. Covey The Covey Leadership CenterThis absolutely fascinating book clearly shows how the lessons that modern organizations are learning the hard way were all taught in antiquity. We must learn these lessons if we are to survive and thrive in the global marketplace. Dr. Stephen R. Covey, Founder and Chairman, Covey Leadership Center Col. Forrest MorganI have just finished reading William A. Levinson's The Way of Strategy, and I highly recommend it. It is well researched and precisely worded. More importantly, it cuts to the heart of several issues that will challenge American industry as we move into the twenty-first century. With memories of the Cold War fading, the international marketplace may well be the next crucial battlefield on which America's continued viability as a superpower is tested. To prepare for that challenge, industry leaders must rediscover the age-old principles that lead to victory in commerce, just as they do in war. In The Way of Strategy, Levinson has done their homework for them, and he presents these timeless concepts in a superbly-organized and readable format. The Way of Strategy taps the teachings of the great strategists from both the East and West. It distills the essential components of successful competition and demonstrates how those approaches are just as vital for business as they are for war. As Levinson tells us, "there are no cookbook recipes." But having well-organized, properly-trained, and highly-motivated people led by strategically- and tactically- competent leaders is just as important for success today as it was to Sun Tzu in 500 B.C. On the battlefield it spells military effectiveness. In the marketplace it means quality. In both spheres it leads to victory! The Way of Strategy is a must read for leaders and managers of all organizations, both public and private. I commend William A. Levinson and hope to see more of his work in the future. Forrest E. Morgan, LtCol, USAF
