Like dolphins and whales, elephants are highly intelligent creatures. Elephant brains are far bigger than human brains, as are those of many whales. (See the brain chart on my marine mammal page.)Evidence of elephant intelligence includes artistic creativity. Elephants have actually painted abstract pictures that could easily pass for modern art. Unlike human artists, elephants have had no formal artistic training, but they choose colors and patterns that they find aesthetically pleasing.
